F1 seasons team starts

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Let’s lock back in the past and view who won the first 3 races in Formula1 in the last 10 years:

YEAR RACE 1 RACE 2 RACE 3
1998 McLaren McLaren Ferrari
1999 Ferrari McLaren Ferrari
2000 Ferrari Ferrari Ferrari
2001 Ferrari Ferrari McLaren
2002 Ferrari Williams Ferrari
2003 McLaren McLaren Jordan
2004 Ferrari Ferrari Ferrari
2005 Reanult Reanult Renault
2006 Reanult Reanult Renault
2007 Ferrari McLaren Ferrari
2008 McLaren Ferrari ?!?!?

Ferrari and Renault have both 2 seasons when they won the first 3 races.

In the past there are 2 seasons when Ferrari and McLaren won each a race in the first two races(1999, 2007). In those seasons Ferrari won the 3rd race.

In 5 seasons Ferrari won the 1st and/or 2nd race, and in all they won the 3rd race. The only exception is 2001 when after they won the first 2 races McLaren got the 3rd.

The 3rd race was won in the last 10 years by :

  • 6 Ferrari
  • 2 Reanult
  • 1 McLaren and Jordan

If we check this statistics Ferrari have chandes to won the 3rd race of this season, but …….. this are just statistics.

5 ) Lewis Hamilton on his 2nd season in F1 and 2nd race at Sepang, succeed to get just half of the points he get last year on this track. I think at this race he was penalized for the first time.

7 ) Mark Webber in 7 races driving on Sepang in formula1 this is the first time when he get points.
